How to Listen to Audiobooks with a Castify Feed

March 30, 2026

A Castify audiobook feed is a standard podcast RSS link. Each book is its own “show,” and each chapter is an episode. You subscribe once in your podcast app, then listen like any other podcast — with downloads, playback speed, queues, and background audio. This guide walks you through finding a book, adding the feed, and getting the most out of the experience.

Subscribe in Four Steps

  1. Open the audiobooks directory (or jump straight to a title from our curated list)
  2. Choose a book and open its feed page
  3. Copy the RSS feed URL shown on the page, or use a Listen in … button if your app is listed
  4. In your podcast app, use Add show by URL (wording varies), paste the link, and subscribe

After you subscribe, episodes appear in reading order. New content is rare for finished classics, but your app will refresh the feed automatically if anything changes.

What You Are Actually Subscribing To

Castify turns LibriVox recordings of public-domain books into a clean RSS feed. The audio is the same volunteer-narrated material you would find on LibriVox; Castify packages it so podcast apps can treat it like a normal show.

That means one subscription per book. If you want to listen to three novels, you add three feeds. Each feed stays focused on a single work, so your queue stays organized by title and chapter.

Why a Podcast App Works Well for Audiobooks

Audiobook apps are great, but podcast players are built for long-form audio too. Most of them offer variable speed (handy for dense prose or slow narration), per-episode downloads for offline listening, CarPlay and Android Auto, sleep timers, and simple background playback while you use other apps.

Because the feed is RSS, you are not locked into one vendor. If you switch from Overcast to Pocket Casts, you export or re-add the same URL and keep listening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Spotify work? Spotify does not support adding arbitrary RSS URLs. Use an app that allows “add podcast by URL” — for example Pocket Casts, Overcast, Apple Podcasts, AntennaPod, or Podcast Addict.

Is it free? Yes. Public-domain texts and LibriVox audio are free to listen to. Castify does not charge for these feeds and you do not need an account.

Do I need the Castify desktop app? No. Hosted audiobook feeds work in the browser: copy the URL and subscribe. The Castify app is for building your own feeds from sources like YouTube or SoundCloud.

Can I share a feed with a friend? Yes. Share the book’s page URL or the RSS link; they can subscribe the same way you did.
